Health and Fitness of America
The percentage of obesity in children has tripled since 1970. One in five children is considered obese or overweight in the US today. This is a growing problem that is harder to address than everyone would think. With schools cutting back on recess and physical activity time for adolescents and increasing the work load children are finding it harder to be healthy. Not only does the school work and extracurricular activities hold students back but also the food that is always available to them is holding them back. Schools serve lunches that contain hamburgers and hot dogs as well as pizzas and French fries which are not the healthiest things to eat on a daily basis. If healthy foods were more readily available then students wouldn’t have to work as hard to stay healthy.
